The Breakthrough Fund for HIV Prevention:
Center for AIDS Prevention Studies

By contributing to the Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS), you are helping provide the resources needed to conduct scientific research on the most effective ways to prevent HIV infection and the spread of AIDS. Researchers at CAPS conduct a wide array of theory-based HIV/AIDS prevention studies blending the disciplines of psychology, sociology, anthropology, epidemiology, policy, ethics, and clinical medicine. Their research keeps pace with the evolving epidemic to better understand the biological, psychological, and social determinants of HIV transmission to create better prevention programs.

Research results and prevention models are quickly disseminated globally, and CAPS researchers provide technical assistance to service providers, community planners, health departments, and other scientists. CAPS trains new scientists to conduct AIDS prevention research and collaborates with researchers from around the world to stop the spread of AIDS. Research and analysis conducted at CAPS contributes to public policy development at the local, state, national, and international levels, and helps to resolve ethical issues related to research, prevention, and care.
